Lineup change for March gig

Big Tent and The Gypsy Lantern

Those of you with the keenest of eyes and memories will notice that our headliner for our March 8th gig has changed.  Unfortunately, Arthur Rigby and The Baskervylles have had to pull out of this and a number of other dates on the their tour.

But we are delighted to have secured “Big Tent and the Gypsy Lantern” to come and headline this night.

“Big Tent” hail from The Midlands and have a four strong line up combining 4 part harmony with guitar, percussion, trumpet, accordion and ukulele. They produce a BIG but also very refined sound which I’m very much looking forward to seeing and hearing.  More details on them here.

This EP has been produced for Ami by Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions as her beautiful vocal and incredible songwriting talent simply needs to be heard.

If you didn’t make it to the launch gig, you can still order a standard edition CD by clicking the ‘Buy Now’ button below.  Please note that the packaging will not be quite as special as the limited editions pictured above but the music and the artwork is exactly the same and it contains a bonus track not listed on the EP.

The standard edition EPs are £5 each plus £1 P+P.

Thank you for supporting this incredible local artiste.  We think you will be seeing and hearing a lot more of her in the not-too-distant future.

Malmesbury Acoustic Christmas single

We are delighted to announce that the Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions Christmas single is AVAILABLE NOW as a FREE DOWNLOAD.  It’s an brand new acoustic version of ‘2000 Miles’ by Pretenders.

Press play to listen to it and you can download it for free here from Soundcloud:

AND watch the promo vid at the bottom of this page.

The track features 3 of us from Malmesbury – Ami Kaelyn on lead vocal and strummy 12-string guitar, me (Neil Muttock) on picky 6-string guitar, stomp and tambourine and Fiona Craig (off of of Malmesbury Community Choir and big supporter of Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions) on backing vocals.

We have arranged, recorded and produced the single ourselves as a ‘thank-you’ to everyone who has supported Malmesbury Acoustic since is started just over 2 years ago and to spread some Christmassy cheer round the West Country.

Ami Kaelyn is due to release a solo EP early next year (which we are also producing for her) and she will be gigging that all next year to promote it.  She also plays cello in my band – The Home Fires – and will also be on tour us playing with us and supporting us, earlier 2014.  So, we should be seeing a lot more of her next year.

Personally, I’m very proud of this version as it’s involved a couple of local and very talented people who individually give a lot to the local music scene here but in very different ways. It’s been a delight to bring them together to share some nice sounds over Christmas.

Also, take a look at the promo vid below featuring some of our favourite pics from past Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions.

Happy Christmas everyone. 🙂 Xx.

Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions first anniversary party

Photo of Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions article in The Gazette and HeraldMalmesbury Acoustic Sessions has gone from strength to strength in it’s first year and it seems The Gazette and Herald agrees!

It’s been an overwhelming start.  The support from the people of Malmesbury has grown, we’ve been involved in organising a music festival and been forced to change venues.   Thank you to all the musicians who have come to Malmesbury and played, to everyone who has helped to organise it and of course to everyone who has come along to check it out.  We sincerely hope you have all enjoyed it.

We have a great line up for our first anniversary party on Friday 5th October in The Kings Arms, and you are all invited.  It’s going to be a proper knees up!

Full details HERE.

First ever KA sessions

What a phenomenal start to our sessions in The Kings Arms.

The Black Feathers started us off with a bang and shared with us their fantastic harmonies and a really powerful sound for 2 singers and a guitar!, Henry Green had the whole room in complete silence and captured the audience with his brother Ben, and Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin gave us absolutely stunning set to finish off. One of the best nights of live music ever.

A thousand thanks all 3 acts for playing, to a great audience for coming and supporting the night and to Pete and Simon for their invaluable help in making it happen.

A new venue for Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions

Yes, Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions has moved from The Three Cups to the function room of The Kings Arms on the Malmesbury High Street.

Whilst this is very exciting move, it is with great sadness we say goodbye to The Three Cups.

The loyal staff at The Cups have been very supportive of Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions since we started it in October 2011. They have really helped to get the night established in Malmesbury, with their very characterful venue, fabulous catering for our musicians and committed, friendly bar staff.

They have all made a significant contribution towards bringing more good quality live music to Malmesbury.

Unfortunately, the pub has run into financial difficulty and has been forced to close. The pub itself is brewery owned and it’s future is unclear so, reluctantly, we have had to find a new venue.

Moving to The Kings Arms is slightly daunting. It’s a bigger venue and so we will need to up our game a bit in terms of production and keeping our audience happy. But the The Kings Arms have also been very supportive, agreeing to open the bar upstairs, catering for our musicians and providing cheap basket meals for everyone who comes to the night.

We are very excited about our opening night there on Saturday 1st September, featuring Cirencester newcomers The Black Feathers, Malmesbury’s own Henry Green and recently signed Holika from Bristol.

We really hope Malmesbury will continue to support Malmesbury Acoustic Sessions at The Kings Arms and look forward to seeing you there on our opening night, straight after the Malmesbury Carnival Procession.

Onwards and upwards ! ……
